Bay Area Information
The Bay Area Real Estate counties include Napa, Sonoma, Solano, Alameda, Santa Clara, Marin, San Benito, Santa Cruz, San Francisco and San Mateo. This area has undergone many transitions since the Spaniards – who discovered the Bay – celebrated Catholic Mass on the site of the Church of Mission Dolores in 1776.
Areas of interest include Fisherman’s Wharf with its charming restaurants where the Wax Museum and Ripley’s Believe It or Not are located. Golden Gate Park contains many cultural attractions such as the Japanese Tea Garden, California Academy of Sciences and the Conservatory of Flowers – to mention but a few.
A 210 ft art deco designed building called Coit Tower was built atop Telegraph Hill in 1933 and is now protected as a historical treasure. Works from more than two dozen artists are on display in this popular attraction.
Alcatraz, one of the nation’s most recognized prisons, was built on an island in San Francisco Bay. It was opened in 1933. Many high-profile criminals were housed there during the prison’s 34 years of operation, including Al Capone, George “Machine Gun” Kelley and the “Birdman of Alcatraz” Robert Stroud. The former penitentiary is now a major tourist attraction operated by the National Park Service and is a must-see for many tourists to the Bay area.
The weather in the Bay area is changeable due to the land area being surrounded on three sides by water. Spring days are cloudless and mild, summer is typically overcast and cool, fall days are usually warm and sunny (sometimes hot) with evenings mild and clear. Winter is the rainy season but crisp and sunny days are not unusual.
The Bay area is considered a beautiful and interesting area to live as well as to visit. Surely Bay Area Real Estate is is for you!
