Clayton California Information
The city of Clayton was incorporated in 1964, making it one of the more recent additions to Contra Costa County. The history of Clayton actually goes back as far as colonial times, but is now among the leaders amongst 21st century California cities.
Clayton is smaller than many of its neighbors, with only a population of about 11,000 people. The quiet town is full of festivals and small parks such as North Valley Park, Lydia Lane Park, and the flagship Clayton Community Park resting at the top of a hill overlooking the city. Almost all of Clayton real estate has at least some access to a nature or recreation park, and not a single spot can be found without a tree or two in sight. Clayton is a town of nature and New Year's and Fourth of July celebrations, as the community successfully seeks to maintain its small-town atmosphere.
