The County is home to a number of major industries including: telecommunications, financial services, steel manufacturing, retail services, chemicals, petroleum refining, food processing, prefabricated metals and paper products. 

Contra Costa County real estate benefits from 6 colleges and universities:  Contra Costa College, Diablo Valley College, Heald College-Concord, John F. Diablo State Park has hiking and cycling trails – with the mountain peak at a height of 3,849 ft. Visitors  in the spring will see a blanket of wildflowers growing all over the 19,000 acre park.  Many people go to birdwatch or to see the deer, rabbits, bobcats, coyotes and mountain lions in their native habitat. 

Another popular attraction is Contra Loma State Park.  Visitors will find facilities for picnicking, swimming, canoeing and horseback riding.  Hiking and bicycling are also popular activities at the park. 

The Brannan Island State Recreation Area provides facilities for swimming and fishing, in addition to a boat launch ramp.  The 100-site campground is an ideal place to spend some vacation time, whether in a tent or in your RV.
