Riverside California Information

Riverside County is located in the southeastern part of the US State of California, stretching from Orange County to the Colorado River, which is the border of the State of Arizona.  Geographically, the county is a desert and lies inland of Los Angeles.  It is a part of the Greater Los Angeles Area.  The county was created in 1893 from parts of San Bernardino and San Diego Counties, and Riverside was designated as the county seat.

Along with San Bernardino, Riverside County is one of the fastest growing regions of the Greater Los Angeles Area.  This is mainly because a large number of workers in Los Angeles have moved to the county in recent years because of its more affordable real estate costs.  It is currently the 4th largest county in the State of California.

Once a predominantly agriculture industry, Riverside County has witnessed many transformations with the addition of other businesses such as commerce, manufacturing, transportation, military, education, and tourism.  Among the leading industries at present are education, health, and social services; retail trade; and manufacturing. Recent developments show it competing actively with its neighboring counties in terms of economy.  From its humble beginnings as a site of Native American reservations, the populace has swelled and become more gentrified, with each resident working hard towards the goal of economic prosperity.

With its recent economic and real estate boom, Riverside County has managed to preserve and maintain its natural beauty.  Its numerous parks, nature and historic centers, museums, lakes, and reservations are able to provide a wide array of recreational activities for its visitors and residents.  Most of the world-famous Joshua Tree National Park is situated in Riverside County.  The county is also home to famous golf courses such as Indian Wells, La Quinta, Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, and Palm Desert.  It is also the site of several world-class casinos and high-end boutiques.

Riverside County real estate is known for its diversity.  Low-end to high-end properties are available all throughout its boundaries.  Urban fanatics may opt to settle down right at the heart of the county’s bustling city centers, while those who would want to avoid the hyperactive urban congestion may opt for a rural or suburban setting on the cities’ fringes.

The county’s claim to real estate fame may very well rest on the City of Palm Springs.  Palm Springs is a famed desert community once known as the “Playground of the Stars.”  From the 1930s to the 1970s, the city was either home or a favored vacation site to many of Hollywood’s most glamorous stars.  Palm Springs real estate is known for its Mediterranean-style homes and mid-century modern architecture.  Aside from its world-class facilities like the aerial tramway, the county is also the location of world-class medical institutions like the Betty Ford Center and the Eisenhower Medical Center.
