Sacramento County was one of the original counties in California which was created in 1850 when California entered the Union.  It was named after the Sacramento River by Captain Gabriel Moraga – the meaning of which is “Lord’s Sacrament” in Spanish. 

Climate

Winter seasons are mild and rainy with temperatures in the 40’s and 50’s.  The summer seasons are long and dry with temperatures sometimes hitting 100 degrees F. for several days in a row.  However, most of the time, the summers are pleasant and dry.
