Of course, there are always homes that can be found requiring a face-lift and the extent of renovation required will usually reflect in the asking price.  Often, however, homes that have been seriously neglected are found in neglected neighborhoods. 

However, some fixer-uppers may only need a fresh coat of paint and carpet replacement with possibly a new air conditioning unit, etc.  Combine this scenario with a motivated seller and a real bargain may be found.
