Ventura California Information

Located in the southern pacific coast of California, Ventura County forms the northwestern part of the Greater Los Angeles Area.  The county is home to a population of 813,052 people spread over an area of 1,845 square miles of land often referred to as the Gold Coast.  Most of the population lives in the southern portion of the county, most notably in major population centers like Oxnard Plains and the Simi and Conejo Valleys.  Adjacent to Ventura are the counties of Santa Barbara in the west, Kern in the north, and Los Angeles in the east.  The county seat is located in Ventura, formally known as the City of San Buenaventura.

The region was home to the Chumash tribe for thousands of years before its subsequent occupation of European settlers.  It became a county of California in 1872 with its lands taken from the southern part of Santa Barbara County.

Ventura County lands are very diverse.  The dramatic coastline rises to majestic mountains with valleys strewn along the center.  The northern part of the county is mountainous and mostly uninhabited.  It contains some of the most pristine, rugged, and inaccessible wilderness remaining in Southern California.  These highlands are well timbered with coniferous forests and receive an abundance of snow in the winter.

The county government has played a major part in ensuring the favorable reviews of Ventura County real estate.  By changing the housing and business trends in Southern California, gridlock and pollution has decreased significantly while ensuring a more affordable real estate and steady job growth, making the county more livable for a swelling population.  With the current decrease of agricultural lands due to massive housing development, the county decided to sell surplus government owned real estate in order to protect Ventura’s agricultural industry.  The county has also forged a strong partnership with several community groups, working hand in hand to preserve and beautify the environment of Ventura County.

Dubbed as the California Coast’s “rising star,” Ventura County strives to live up to its reputation by ensuring the active participation of different sectors of the community to ensure a higher standard of living for its growing population.

Ventura Real Estate

Ventura County real estate boasts of being situated in one of the safest and cleanest counties in California.  It has a reputation of being one of the safest places in the country every year, enabling its real estate owners to feel more secure in their homes and in the streets.  It has experienced a steady decline in its crime rate year after year.  Its residents are also very active in maintaining the cleanliness of the county’s environment.  Through voters’ initiatives, the county has barred development on large open spaces surrounding its cities.  This call for a limited sprawl allowed the county to maintain its status as one of California’s leading agricultural areas and limit the pollution in its narrow valleys.

Another popular Ventura County real estate is the charming communities found along the coastline, each with its own special qualities.  Above all, the most distinct feature of the county’s real estate is its diverse, relaxed, and friendly personality.
